Stumped the tech....

RE: Stumped the tech....
All right, update time. Here's what I found out today. My tech has definetly gone out of his way this time....we have two different, competing, service centers and Chrysler corporate techs involved. The cat has been pressure tested, theres almost no backpressure beyond whats supposed to be there. The trans has been dumped, cleaned and bands checked. The motor has been compression, vacume and computer checked. The PCM has been checked, rechecked and checked again. They've pulled numbers while pulling, while not, and while beating the crap out of the truck. ACCORDING TO ALL THESE TESTS NOTHING IS WRONG!!! I think I've stumped everyone who has looked at my truck. The most annoying part is that the owner is getting annoyed with my truck and trailer sitting in his lot...his solutionby the way is he has a nice '04 QC coming in on trade and I should just buy that one. When he said that, I just walked away from him bearing in mind that not less than 3 months ago I bought my caravan from him....and my family has bought 5 vehicles there. Either way, my tech said he's not giving it back to me without fixing it....I think I will mention to him about the tires, and try and get him to swap the stock tires off his truck '01 QC and see if that makes a difference....thats the next step at least. I really dont want to loose my truck....since '94 when Dodge released this body style I have wanted one, this is my dream truck....nothing beats it. Anyway, thats the update....I'll keep you guys posted as I find out more.

RE: Stumped the tech....
Techs are going to tell you what the "book" tells them. I ordered my 01 just for towing. At the time all the trailering gurus and sales places told me to go with 3.9 or higher gearing...4.10 etc.
Combined with the 5.2 engine and possible death flash, you may be getting all there is to be got. I've got the 5.2 engine w/3.9 rear end and tow a 5000lb. trailer (wet). I opted for the above thinking when I'm not towing, it would be better on fuel than the 5.9 and 4.10 rear. LOL...that failed. My setup is ok in that it has power, but it's not going to haul like a diesel. I feel this setup is under powered for trailering.

RE: Stumped the tech....
ive towed a few things with my 01 5.9L w/ 4.10 gears...loved it. Gas mileage 13.5 mpg average. If i need to tow anything that my truck cant handle, take my father in laws CTD (dont know his gearing). If i need bigger then that towed, its off to see my friend w/ the dump trucks. Looking at what i just wrote, dont know how this really helps ya out. just kinda started typing and this is what you get.
