To eliminate codes you need to disconnect the battery and turn the ignition to on for 10 seconds, turn off and reconnect. With you seeing this air bag light on I would suggest not doing that but doing what you asked about.

3x ignition keyto"ON"will put the pcm into diagnostics mode and show any codes you may have.
The check engine light will stay on a few seconds thenturn offand and start to flash the codes..
Short spaces between flashes you keep adding up the flashes. (1second intervals roughly)
Longer space between flashes is the start of the second digit of the code. (2secounds roughly)
Even longer space is the first # of another code. (3-4seconds roughly)
Code 12 and 55are recent battery disconnect (in last 50 starts)and end ofcodes.

I would run the diagnostics to see what comes up.
Now as far as pulling the seats go, I removed my stock seats back in 2000(from my 96) andreplaced with manual race buckets. Never got a code for my airbag when I did it.

RM_ indy,,, thanks, I tried the things you said in the post. It didnt give a code or blink,, just the same red air bag light on... rechecked the wires under the seat,,, one other thing,,, when I bought the truck the fog lights were disconnected,, kinda crushed plastic connector,,so got that fixed about the same time of removing the front seat,, think theres something to that.???
If I have Autozone scan for codes will that air bag show up in the codes and tell whats up.?
