Never, ever, ever, ever, ever apply heat or weld steering components.

I've done it numerous times and was even "taught" if you would by an ASE tech. I've also welded and know many people who have done it to steering on they're wheeling rigs. Those rigs see way more abuse or presure on all components then any street truck will. Theres a right way to do it and a wrong way I guess.

Glad somebody agree's I get what your saying too, about people not knowing what they're doing.

The steering my on Jeep is ful custom and its WAY stronger then any stock setup ever made. I am confident it could take a stump or rock direct hit within reason.

Understood, guys; however, the average person needs to know that you never heat and reuse ball-joints, tie-rods, and other parts and pieces. I really didn't think about it until afterwards that the steering knuckle (aka spindle) can be modified, but it can't be done by the untrained person.
