and basically all it did was heat up the air for my engine. the air cleaner its self was metal, so the 2 metal peices just got super hot as hell and made my engine sluggish as ****.

I wouldn't accuse you of lying Silver_Dodge. I don't have any reason to doubt anyone who says that a carberator type air cleaner works just fine on thier tb. I just know what hot air does to my engine- "makes it run sluggish as ****"- and it is refreshing to hear of someone in the same boat. Without looking at a scanner or doing an accurate dyno comparison, it is really just perception anyway. Saying that someone is not being truthful in what they perceive would be foolish.

I'll be doing some dyno runs as soon as I get this SCT stuff straight. I'll try both and let you know. Either way I don't think it will be accurate because it will be indoors using fans. I would imagine the temp. would be a constant 75*. It would be a more accurate comparison if it were outside in the 95-100* temps that we have been experiencing here. I'll bet that if K&N were to do more of a "real world" test they would get more than the 8 or 11 hp that they claim now.

So according to YOUR logic, most all of the Muscle Car crowd (myself included) are idiots for having this setup sitting on top of their engines!?!?

Gosh, I better run down to the nearest Appliance Store and buy some dryer hose for my truck and while I think about it I better install a stove pipe PVC snorkle on my Harley because it currently has a open filter on it too!

I've had open filters on nearly 20 different vehicles over the year and the round AC has been the best bang for the $$ modification I've done to this truck!

if anything i would rather see a round filter then a sewerer pipe or a dryer pipe under the hood but to each is his own .. but to be honest silver you got the mods what would it be with just the exhaust done ? not much , mite hurt but your set up does look good..
I agree whole heartedly that the round filteris hands down the best looking air cleaner set-up out there. And out of those, the Mopar one like Silver_Dodge has is the best looking of them all. Second best looking IMO is the Eddy type triangle.

Most of the seriousmuscle car crowd are running carberators and do not have iat sensors controlling there timing and a/f ratio. That is what these filter assemblies were designed for and they work fine in that application.
