Default cold air intake??

first of all, hey to cowgirl!!
ok, to business...on the 97's 360 cid the intake can take the aftermarket K&N and AFE devices...we all know that, but what about using just the standard crome air cleaners? has anyone tried this and if so, did it increase HP and mileage for the 360...and which one did you use and style type, yada yada yada...

lol well cowgirl is taken unfortunitally and then i have 1st dibs! haha

but yeah i had a 14 inch round holley air cleaner on mine for a little while, i hateed it. i had to buy some spacers for itso it couldclear the throttle controls. the heat from the tb broke the plastic spacer, and basically all it did was heat up the air for my engine. the air cleaner its self was metal, so the 2 metal peices just got super hot as hell and made my engine sluggish as ****.

i ripped this off 3 days ago and did a homemaid cold air intake. WAY better. thats the route i would go.

there is a stud that comes with it, and it screws into ur tb. except mine isnt centered.... so when i put it on it never sat down all the way until i had to ninja rig it. trust me it aint worth it. if ur gonna spend the 40 to get the air cleaner, go to home depot and get the stuff to make a cold air intake. its ALOT better.

mopowar,
You act as though the rest of us who like our round filter setups must be lying or something. You should know me by now on this forum that I don't exagerate or make stuff up. The round filter assembly absolutly works great for me, better then any CAI I tried. I don't understand why you don't believe me. I swear, one of these days i'm going to just spend the cash and get the dyno tests done to compare these once and for all.

if anything i would rather see a round filter then a sewerer pipe or a dryer pipe under the hood but to each is his own .. but to be honest silver you got the mods what would it be with just the exhaust done ? not much , mite hurt but your set up does look good..
