A/C fixed, Now it wont turn off!
The AC dident work in my truck since I bought it, I tryed to recharge it but the directions on the recharge kit wernt right for my truck, so I called my uncle who worked for trane company as a heating and cooling technician so he knows what he is doing...
We got it working, and its ice cold but now if I move the control thing off A/C the clutch on the compresser is still engaged... I started thinking about it cause the truck felt liek it had alittle less power today than normal and it was blowing cold even with the ac off.
Its really humid, and very damp here now because its been raining for like 3 days straight and normally I would have to use my defroster... is there like an auto feature that runs the AC when its humid out to keep the windows from fogging up?
If this is some computer glitch, or somthing too complicated im just going to run an inline switch to under my dash somewhere where I can manually turn it on and off...
Any ideas?

how did you install it? your supposed to put a jumper wire in the sensor runnin from the low pressure line to keep the clutch engaged. then fill. then reconnect the sensor.
depends.. if you put it on defrost.. its still gonna have the compressor engaged.. if you have it on recirc it might do the same thing... a/c doesnt stand for AIR COOLER .. it stands for air CONDITIONER.. meaning just that.. it conditions the air your breathing.. not just cooling it.. any time you run the defrost.. it conditions the air that it blows in.. doesnt make sense to blow humid air on the winshield when its full of humidity already...
The A/C clutch is activated by a positve current. Did you rewire anything that caused you to cut wires? It sounds like you have an always on positive current feeding the A/C clutch. Did you run any new wires? Did you happen to reverse a plug or something?
Alright...
It dident work before I had to replace the intake plenum gasket, but when I did that I had to disconect the A/C lines...
My grandmas brother, the ac tech said you cant have any air in the system, so we took a vaccum pump and I made a fitting to connect to the high side of the system, we had the can installed on the low side but off. we sucked out all of the air/ freeon in the system without taking out the oil then we sealed off the line that we used to pump the air out, and put in freon to get it up to like 2 psi so it wouldent suck in air when we took off the fitting from the highside. Then we just charged it like normal, it took 2 cans and its still not entirely full but its close enough.
If I turn the switch to off for the entire blower system the ac goes off, so thats just what I did lately and I think if I cant get it im just going to add in a manual switch,.

I checked on my 2001 and the A/C compressor only shuts off in the VENT position and the FLOOR position. That's the position with the little arrow in the middle (vent) and the position with the little arrow in the bottom (floor). The compressor will still run in all other positions.
