I got the Monroe heavy duty shocks (coil over rear) that I had to *WEDGE* in place with a screwdriver. Now, when I drop my trailer onto the hitch, the ***-end drops a mere ¾" in. rather than 3"
I just looked those up they seem like a really good price for a coil over shock like that. Should I get those for the rear and the the reflex for the front. How stiff do you think that will make my tuck? Is it better to be stiff or soft (No dirty jokes)? Also will doing the heavy duty rear mess with the height off the *** end. I'm planning on putting in front spacers to level out the ride but I really don't want to go over 3" higher on the truck.
I can't remember what I used for the front, but I can dig out the receipt and look for you. I went with a stiffer shock to handle ruts and bumps on rough roads. Where I work we have rumble strips that rattle the hell out of my Cavalier, whereas you literally don't notice them with the Dodge. The truck handles very well, but then I am not driving it like a sports car, because it isn't a sports car.

EDIT *
I have the Mon 32277 and the Mon 58610

Sorry, I'm a little confused. the 32277 is supposed to be just like the oe. It's a softer shock. So you went with soft in the front for the ride and stiff in the back for loads. Does thismake your whole suspension kinda of goofy or does it even it out. Gives you a smooth ride with good loading abilities?

Actually, yes. I didn't feel the need for a stiffer shock in the front if I have a lot of weight in the back. I forgot to mention that when the coil-overs went into place, the back end didn't sag a bit such as when regular shocks are installed. It handles and rides well. I also got new tires installed as well about two weeks ago (stock profile, etc.) I actually get a bigger woody driving now that ever before, and now I'm looking forward to the transmission rebuild.

Hey, thanks for your help. I'm definetly going with the coil overs in back. As far as the front I'm still a little torn. I think that what I will do is get the monroe reflex shocks. My reasoning is because I want to take the sway bar off. The best way to do that safely is to get a stiff shock in the front to resit body roll. My other thought is that if body roll is to much then I will put the sway bar back on and because the reflex is self adjusting it will still be a good shock.

Your line of thinking makes sense. I was thinking of going heavier duty up front, but a lot of it was based on what I could afford. I'd love to hear back what you finally decided and how it works out.

Iceman... the bilstiens would be perfect for the front if your going to yank the swaybar... when I mounted the bilsteins the 1st thing I noticed was the body roll was significantly reduced over the stock shocks... and any other shock I've had experience with.

If I but the bilesteins up front should I use something differnt in back? The ones that I am looking at are basically a sensa trac with a coil over it. Or should I get a helper spring to stiffen it up for towing and use bilseteins?

I have the bilsteins all the way around and they work great. the one problem I can see with coilovers in the rear is a really harsh ride. Maybe Gary can comment on the rear ride (unless I missed it in a previous post)

Yea, he said it was still a good ride. I think this is because the spring dosen't do anything till you push down a certain distance. I'm not sure though

Well just to let all of you know, because I'm sure you aren't interested. I ordered reflex for my front shocks and loadadjuster for the rear.
