I have a 97 Ram 1500 that is experiencing overdrive issues. The truck is a 2WD,has a 5.2 enginewith the electronic trans (46RE)and 145000 miles on it. When the truck is first started upand drivenup to about 10 miles, the trans works great. After 10 or so miles of drivingthe transmission begins to hesitate going into OD (4th). Usually after hesitating once or twice it will stop going into OD completely. After the truck sits and cools for a couple hours, it will go through the same process when you restart it. Other than this issue the trans works great. I have change the fluid and filter and also changed the throttle position sensor. Neither of thesetwofixeshelped at all. Has anybody else had a problem like this and found the answer? Thanks in advance for you help.

 

It maybe time to have the transmission to be resealed. All the seals maybe hard and will not hold.

 

Thanks... I was hoping for a simple fix but was afraid it would'nt be. In your opinion would it cost about the same to just get a rebuilt unit and put it in? Thanks again.
