Default I Want More

I'm told I'm such a girl, never happy with what I've got[sm=smiley9.gif]. About a year ago I bought my truck. When I bought it, it was lifted, had bigger tires, and had a Magnaflow cat-back exhaust. But thats it.
Since then I've made a few changes. My goal is more power, without killing my mpg.
First thing was a K&N Cold Air Intake.
ThenI learned I had cracked heads. So while getting those fixed, the shop sanded the heads, surfaced the intake manifold, decarboned and cleaned the trottle body, and did a 3 angle valve job.
I just added a Hypertech Max Energy Programmer. The dynocharts say it adds 10hp at 2500rpm. Ya thats it.
[sm=helpout.gif]Please help, how can I get more power? I also have this little problem with California Smog

Change your gears to 4.56's so any perfomance mods can be felt in the right powerband for your truck with the 35" tires.

52mm fastman, 1.7 roller rockers (crowers are what I had), gibson headers, modded kegger intake manifold (cut the runners 1.5" from the tallest point)... those mods should help you get more mid to upper HP w/o killing too much low end torque. when I had my 2000 QC 4x4 with 34's & 4.11's on it I peaked at 15.9 mpg and averaged 14's on the hiway and it did really well on the upper rpms.

welcome to DF... hope this helps.

How did they "fix" the cracked heads...that sounds shady to me.

And decarboned the TB, haha thats funny. So they sprayed it with Carb cleaner?

Just giving you crap! Sounds like a really sweet truck, get some pics of it!

I am really kinda interested in how they fixed the heads, I didn't really know that was possible.

A good machine shop can 'plug' the heads where the crack occurs. They do this by drilling holes and placing plugs into the head. They continue this process of drilling and inserting until the entire crack has been replaced. I'm sure somebody with experience with the process can provide more info. Supposed to be a permanent fix if it is done correctly.
