Default Gutting the Cat?

I'm having my guy "gut" my cat next monday for my flowmaster super 44 dual exhaust system. Right now I run a 3" inlet/outlet magnaflow catalytic converter which is hi-flo to begin with, but I'd like it to be completed gutted out so it can maximize airflow and louden the system more. Have any of you guys gutted your cat while running a flowmaster muffler, did it make the system noticably louder:? I am just looking to louden my system up even more because it's goin to be awhile till I can afford a cold air intake kit and some nice longtube headers, so I want something fun done that isn't so much money. Let me know what you guys think!

It'll make it louder, but it's not my choice.
I did it on two other vehicles and they had this tunneling sound at the cat.
You may like it though.

Someone here opened their cat and put a pipe through it and closed it back
to keep the cat look.

Yeah I will keep the cat, my guy is just going to gut the "honeycomb" out of it and then re-install it so it will look like the cat is still there, I am excited though, I love that hollow noise!

and if you have pretty chrome tips, those will be gone as the untreated exhaust gasesdestroy the chrome as it exitsthe vehicle

well thats what i got on there now is a magnaflow hi-flo cat. I definately wouldnt want to ruin those shiny tips lol! Hmm..I just wouldnt mind a little extra noise and a little mroe of that hollow flowmaster sound, but if you guys think it will ruin the tips, I wouldnt want to jeopardize those!

stock magnum motor is designed to have some backpressure... that flowmaster and hi-flow cat have already eliminated most of it... unless you're going forced induction, i'd stick with whatcha got. if you want louder, lose the muffler. that'll DEFINATELY increase the rumble. if you want a lot more rumble, drop the exhaust under the truck (if it's legal in your state). then the soundwaves resonate off the pavement and underbody. mine was like that till i put the true dual system on it. it was a bit more than i wanted, but it worked and i actually picked up 1.5 mpg on highway... lost mileage in town, but picked up on highway.

hope this helps.
