Default tranny question

The tranny in the 96 is acting funny. I'm at college now so I don't drive everyday. On saturday I noticed she was a alittle sluggish but when she got going she was fine. Today, after sitting for three days, she was VERY sluggish, almost didn't want to go. Anyone got an idea's?

Check your tranny fluid. If it isn't a bright red, or you see any hints of a brown shade, get your fluid changed and quickly.

You should also adjust your bands when you change the fluid. I did mine for the first time last night (band adjustment) and it's "easy peasy", although I played hell trying to locate the adjustment for the front band. Too much grease and crap on the transmission. Shifts much better (138K on it), and this should buy me some time until I rebuild it with more heavy duty components.

I can't remember where I acquired that info, but if you PM me your e-mail address, I can scan the instructions and send them to you after Labor Day weekend (I'm taking the Dodge out of town and hauling VW parts).

I tell ya, I LOVE working on my truck. I can't wait to rebuild the transmission myself using bad-*** parts like Kevlar bands
