Hi
I have a 1500 4x4 2001 5.9 - sport off road package.
I had the Front Driver side axel looked at because it was leaking.
I usually do all my work myself but wasnt sure how hard fixing a leaky axel was.
The shop said they could replace the seals along with the ujoints for 460.00
I said OUCH but ok.
They took it all apart replaced the u-joints (which I could have done on my own)
Then called me and said even if they replaced the seal the axel is to worn down and will leak anyway, so they put it back together and I paid 330 for U-joints!!!
Any ways.

How hard is it to replace the front driverside axel??

Can I get them anywhere or do I have to go through a Dealer?

are their any good detailed directions that anyone knows of?

any help is greatly appreciated...winters around the corner here in Ohio and I dont want to be working on this thing in the slushy cold.

My father ran into the same problem w/ his truck. He got the axels from napa so i guess you can get them anywhere
