what do the colored stripes on a tire mean. when mounted should they all be in the same location
i.e. inside , outside?

 

Not nessessarliy all in the same location, if I remember correctly the stripe goes to the inside
Just make sure they aren't directional, but I'm sure you know that.

 

they are not directional i looked for that but the tires on the driver side have the red line on the outside and the tires on the right have the redline on the inside seems funny... if i didnt get it done at pep boys i probally woundlt be worried

 

are u talking about the lines that are on the tread that go around i work at a tire shop and diffrent tires have diffrent colors on them i assume thats how the tire maker identifys what size they are

Since they are not directional, no need to sweat it.
I think they are there to identify which side the DOT number is on.

 

They are for identification and thats all. Tires can go on either way, unless they're directional

 

Stripes on the tires are just identification used by the manufacturer. Diffrent variations in stripe width, color, and count means a certian tread goes with a certian tire. And now, my friends, you know the rest of the story.
