Default Early 5.2 Liter owners; must read!

Let me tell you about the best 44 bucks that I ever spent. Yeah, I smiled when I first heard my new Flow-pro exhaust; sure I liked my electric cooling fans--but nothing made me grin ear to ear as when I took the first ride after putting in a new Throttle Position Sensor in my 98's 318 todya. Wow, what a difference. Forget about the kick down cable, that didn't fix anything for me. Now when I stomp it from a rolling stop, the RPMs come up almost to readline. This is what I wanted from this motor the whole time and all it took was to replace that little TPS. I used an Advanced Auto, GP Sorensen, 779-3692. Just wanted to let ya'll know.

Hey Lee,

What instigated the purchase of a new TPS? Were you having issues before, or did you just do it to see if it would improve performance? And how many miles do you have on that thing?

I've got about 65k on her right now. I was reading here about someone, I think it was a mod or admin, that had done a TPS change out and found good results. Well, I'm willing to try anything at this point. The truck just would not rev past 3k; with about 2k of power left. It would shift no matter what I did. I was told that this truck is suppose to rev much higher and to check my kick down cable. I messed with it for about two weeks and when I was in the parts store yesterday for some oil for the wife's car I figured what the heck and just ordered that little switch to see what happens. Well, bingo, that was what was keeping this truck from revving like it should. I'm VERY happy now because when I want some power, its actually there for the taking.

I'll have to check where I'm shifting at WOT and see if maybe I shouldn't do the same. Anybody want to scout ahead for cops?
