the weight i dont know, but the sheild helps to protect if the drive shaft lets go , plus kinda keeps the heat away from the exhaust . i know the exhaust is on the other side but heat travels...for what you use it for do you really need it , not really would you benifit running a cell where the spare tire is forsure...

you are reading my mind. The only thing is I do not know how the fuel cell works (as far as the pump is concerned.) Could someone tell me a little about that?

think they are just a really string fuel tank and they have like mesh in side so if it were to rip open it wont spill all over

most of them are like a foam.. they dont hold much.. IE: mainly for racing.. and for a fuel pump.. you usually ahve to run -AN fitings with an external fuel pump... cant use your stocker by any means...as far as a gauge..i know they make some cells for musclecar builds/restos and some how they get a guage to work with them.. prolly optionalas akit

i saw that they sell cells up to 26 gallons....now thats a little much imo, unless its a boat. But my old truck only had 12 gallons in it and that was fine...just had to make sure to carry cash for the fillup. But, I think a 20 gal would do fine. Relocating it would do wonders though. As far as holding the cell right at the rear of the truck goes though....I dont run with a bumper, so would there be any infractions in legality with that?
