R/T or Not R/T
Recently picked up a great looking 2000 Dodge Ram 1500 with only 82,000 miles on it. The engine is the 5.9L Magnum and the body has color matched grill and bumpers. There are gray DECALS on the sides and back that show it's a "5.9 R/T" but when trying to look up more information on this truck on Google, I haven't been successful in finding this truck online. The owners manual is a generic Dodge Ram book and list's all the motor and trim lines for that year (frustrating as I recently changed the rear dif. oil and was unsure if the rear was limited slip or not). Searches for Dodge Ram R/T have pulled up Dakota R/T's.
Did Dodge put out a R/T edition Ram in 2000? Or did I get duped by the dealer.

as far as I know, the ss/t (along with the indy) was the most hopped up the 5.9 came from the factory, in the ram truck. Best way to check is to look at the heads and see if theres a big R/T stamping on them.
The Dodge Ram Sport was a factory pacakge that came with body colored grill and bumpers that ran from 1994 to I beleive present. There was no thing as an R/T for the Ram in those years but you do likely have a Sport pacage. Besides the visuals it has a slightly different suspension and shock setup and different heads on the motor. Those heads are actually coveted by other 5.9 owners as they flow better and are a better design. Check out the second gen forum (here) for more info on the R/T.
