you have to take the center console off the cieling..if its the one with the guages and all.. open the sunglass door.. and there are two clips in it.. pull it down A LITTLE BIT.. then pull towards the back of the truck.. it will slide out after you get those clips out... take off the visors... the oh **** handles.. the clips and the trim.... all the way to the back door... and then drop it down... be careful.. its not real sturdy.. but i did most of my work on top of the truck.. but it did pull down enuf for me to get them wired up too

Got a kit from Advance auto as well, I took most of the trim off my 98 1500 extended cab but the rear quarter trim will have to wait until I find a Torx 50 bit. There are holes in the inner sheetmetal (I'll post pictures later if I can) as well as wiring already running along the top of the windshield which hopefully can be tapped into; for drilling I'm thinking to just do it from the inside using the factory holes as a reference and use masking tape on the outside of the holes to reduce the drill bit tearing the thin sheetmetal as well as catching shavings - anybody used this approach?

nah it wasnt bad at all... except i broke the trim by the windsheild driver side tryin to get it off to get the headliner down [:@]. oh well, now its niagra rigged with a screw till i can get to the salvage yard.
oh yeah! and i broke 2 drill bits. stripped 2 screws, and broke a light bulb already. so a job that could have taken me an hour took me 3. and to top it all off, once it was all wired and the headliner back up it stopped working. so instead of checkin fuses first, i took all the **** off and pulled the headliner down to check for bad wiring. turned out it was a fuse. WOW. but im gonna hit up advance and fix that bulb and then it will be worth it. ill post a pic once its dark.
