hey all...im new here,new to dodge too.long time chevy guy.i bought a 01 dakota and had so many probs with it that the dealer is buying it back.theres a 01 ram QC with the 318 with 71k mi on it that i was looking to trade for the dak.i was wonderin if anyone can give me some info on the ram.it doesnt have alot of options,auto,cruise,am/fm/tape,ac,power windows and doors.thats about all i can think of right now..any info would be deeply appreciated.

Hey guy. Welcome to DF. The Ram you're looking at is a decent ride with plenty of room for upgrading. The 318 is a good little v-8 workhorse. There are plenty of ways to boost HP that are pretty simple and inexpensive. See you in the forums.

thanx man,ive heard that the 318 and 360 are excellent motors,i was just a little leary of getting one with 71k miles on it.

Those motors are as dependable as they get. As usual you have to keep the oil changed, etc.....

How does a chevy guy get switched to Dodge?

heheh......i dunno.i had a zr2 which was a lease and had to get out of it.my wife is on her 2nd lease(both caravans)through gary miller dodge here in erie so i went to check out what they had.i always liked the look of the dakotas and rams....so i opted for one.
im kinda psyked about this ram.i tried to post a pix but i think i need to resize it to under 500k.ill keep workin on it.

Like MoparTodd said, don't worry about the mileage. That thing isn't even broken in yet. The 318/360's are among the most dependable engines I've come across. I've had several LA engines (the pre-magnum 318 and 360's) go over 200K without any work besides tune-ups/oil changes, and I currently have a Magnum 318 with 160K on it without any work besides regular maintenance.

thanx all...im gettin abit excited over this truck.im supposed to pick it up at 930 sat moren(bout 5 hrs from now).cant sleep.
what about the tranny?im not sure which one she has in her but i did get a option list from the service guy so i can cypher the code.i just dont know anything about ,well....anything.heheh

well..i did it.bought the ram 1500 qc.they even put on some 285/75 liberators for me.heheh....
when referring to the rear end,open means 1 tire will spin correct?this is different than posi where both spin?i noticed the tag on the rear axel says 3.55 open.i was hopin it had posi but i guess you really cant have your cake and eat it too.bummer.
