There is no reason why they shouldn't.

 

I am thinking about this same choice. I have the 5.2L engine on my 1500. For those of you that have gotten the long tube pacesetters with the y pipe, did you leave it as a single 3" pipe to a single muffler or split it after the y and use 2 mufflers, or some other setup? I am worried that the 1-3/4" primaries and 3" collectors are going to cause too much loss of torque on the bottom end unless I leave it as a single 3". I want more streetability than all out racing performance. I would appreciate any / all input on this.

I've been thinking about that same sort of thing but from a different angle. I've been thinking thatthe 318 might not be a big enough engine to handle a 1 3/4" primary tube. Not sure if a smaller one would be better and how much smaller is a good question.

You could go dual out, but I'd probably keep it around 2 1/4" pipe. The 3" cat back single pipe has been a great mod for me so far, and I haven't lost any low end, but I worry that I might if I go too big a header as the current ones might be saving me right now.

 

I know what you mean. This is what the salesman told me when I asked them about performance losses / gains.

I would really like to hear what someone who has actually installed tham has to say. There sometimes is a big difference from what looks good on paper and what happens in the real world.

I might try to contact somebody over at KRC performance and see what they say.I don't think they'llbe bent on trying to sell a specific brand or type, but will probably shoot pretty straight on what you want your truck to do.

 

i put the pace setter longtubes on my truck and i am very pleased with them. 1500-2000 in overdrive going up a decent grade is still the same as before, not very much torque. but that isnt really due to the engine not making torque as much as it is the over drive gear ratio holding it back. every day driving is a lot better, i have no problem passing people at any speed. they took a whole day to put on but i would do it again. if i give it more than 1/2 throttle from a stop it will spin my 285's. just get the longtubes and you will not regret it. i left the single exhaust on and i think it is the perfect combination with the large primaries. good luck.

I decided on the Pacesetter LTs and the Pacesetter y-pipe too. Now all I need is a cat-back that will be compatible. Will the Pacesetter Predator cat-back bolt up to this setup without much trouble? Or any other cat-back for that matter?

 

There is nothing really bolt-up about the Pacesetter setup persey. You can put whatever you want on there The collectors and they sections all utilize slip fittings and you end up with a bare 3" pipe at the end. Let me see if I can find the pictures.

Cool. So all I really need is a cat-back system with a 3" pipe at the front to connect to the end of the y-pipe? I know a lot of cat-back systemshave 2.5" "exit" pipes after the muffler but I think I remember seeing that most of them have a 3" intermediate pipe. Thanks for posting the pics. Those headers look great!
