hughes engines : http://www.hughesengines.com/partDet...amp;eTypeID=10 (if it's a V8, your sig doesn't say) get the extra bolts they recommend. You can pass on the O2 sensors if you don't feel like you need them. Also get some medium strength threadlocker and an in/lbstorque wrench so you don't tear up the gasket.

best replacement out there in my opinion. This is a bear of a job time wise and it's best to do it once. it's got a heavy duty aluminum pan ( you'll be amazed how much heavier than the stock pan) thats the same material as as the intake manifold (not steel like the stocker)so it'll expand and contract at roughly the same rate.

Follow Steve's guide to the letter, it's really good. And don't try to reuse the TB gasket like I did, you might end up spending an extra week trying to track down a whistle.

I had never heard of this setup. Thanks for the info. I googled it and I'm thinking that its the next thing I do to my rig. What years of the 318s are non-EGR? Will my 98 take that FI setup?

97 up I'm sure didn't have egr except maybe in cali. The FI airgap from hughes will work with a non egr motor. Keep in mind that hughes is the only one offering the FI airgap. all the other ones you see on the net are for carb applications. When swapping manifolds you also wanna keep in mind you will most likely loose a little lowend, but on the other hand you gain a whole lotta top end. WHen I installed my m1 I noticed the difference from about 2000rpms on up. It would pull farther into the rpm range then I was willing to take my old 318. The hardest I ever pushed it though was around 5500rpms and it was still pulling.

I was thinking of going M1 until I saw the price tag. I am seriously thinking of taking my aluminum plate from APS and seeing if it can be welded to the bottom of my intake.
