speedo recal. ?
My dad and I both own 97 dodge rams His truck has 35 in. tires with 4:56 gears and Mine has 39.5 inch tires with 4:88 gears. Both trucks have a 231 transfer case. My buddy has a jeep also with a 231 transfer case and to get his speedo to read right just changed the speedo gear. he got it from quadratech. I have talked to quadratech and they don't seem to think I can use their speedo gears as they specialize in jeeps. i don't want to use accuspeed or hypertech or anything like that to get the speedo to read right though. What makes it so that I can't get a speedo gear for a jeep if my t-case is the same thing? any suggestions?
You probubly could. I just changed my speedo gear in my 97. I ended up finding a calculator online to find out what tooth count I neded then went to the dealership. The dealership offers seedo gears up to 38 teeth.
I don't want to spend 3-400 bucks for 20 dollar part. Programmer that I will no use out of or a gear that is easily installed and takes care of my problem. I am cheap...what can I say.MAGICDSSMAN What website was it that you were able to figure out how many teeth you needed?

http://www.bgsoflex.com/speedo1.html That is the link for the calculator You need to pull your old speed gear and count the teath on it to figure out how many teath are on the inside gear. Then you can calculate what size gear you need.
