Mopower, it's a 4x4 QC truck, I think his choice of modding the kegger is the right one.

Ya, we can make it an appendix to Steve already good write-up on the plenum repair. Don't worry, those of you who know me from around this forum know that I will probably take pictures, and probably write-up a lot of detail.

Excellent pictures Steve. I'm sure i'll be in touch with you though once I get started.
I probably won't remove that much off the runners, as suggested by a guy on another forum who used to make many of them and tested several variations. Mike also said not to take too much of the runners on a 5.2, just a mild cut only. He also suggested not porting it either on a 5.2. I will however be opening up the space between the bores, and cutting back the center divider some (also Mikes suggestion).

The work you did on injector boss cleanup is very good though Steve. What tool did you use for that? That is another suggested step (increases the amount of spray that makes it into the cylinder).

Here's some pics Mike sent me with what he calls a "full on port and fill". This is the one he said performed like an M1, better in his opinion is what I gathered (as he tested an M1 too, and took it back off after a very short time). He thought this much would be overkill on a 5.2, moving the power band up high again. I also just can't get used to the idea of filler inside the intake. That's one of the reasons i'm agains the Hughes modded kegger. I understand why it's there, and why that's a good idea, just not sure how comfortable I am with that.

hehe,

That filler's the same color as the carpet, I thought he just spilled crap everywhere.
Looks almost like that spray-in insulation foam, and they just propped it up in a corner to get it to set at the approximate angle to lead up to the TB intake.
If you do that write up, be sure to give us recommendations on how much to cut out of the 5.2 and 5.9 if you've got them from somebody in the know.

That filler he used is Road and Bridge epoxy. That particular manifold he sent me pictures of was modified one step at a time, and dyno'd each step. This was the final result, which he said performed extremely well.

Started a new thread to cover this topic:

It looks like this pic was for a 360... the runners look to be cut down about the same as what I did. I'm heading over to home depot shortly, I'll write down the p/n's of the dremel bits I used for the port cleanup & the cut.

Reid, doyou know what the main benifit of cutting the center divider was? Both my manifolds didnt have it for me to remove.

when are you planning to start cutting?

The main benefit is to just improve the air flow, that's it. It was only in there on the older models to help better distribute the egr gasses coming in on each side. Without that divider, those gasses build up in the center of the intake.

Since my '99 is not egr, I don't need that. That's also why Chrysler removed it on later years when egr went away.

I have one concern about that divider though that I have not been able to verify. I hope it is not there to strengthen the intake. It could be that Chrysler came up with a stronger design, and that's why it went away in later years. I plan to cut it down like you see in those pictures I posted (the ones from Mike). That way it frees up the restriction, but also leaves enough for support in case that is its intended purpose.

I would like to start with one from a later year ('99 or newer), but htis is what I have, so will make the best of it I guess. Unless someone out there has one they want to send me. You can have my current one (not my older spare one, but the one that's on the truck right now) as a trade.
