did you ever decide how much you were going to cut off? I found on the web that 1" was what worked best for others who've done it to the 318...

Damn Brother! If you ever needed an "excuse" to buy tools, now is the time!!!!
It's not the excuse i'm having a hard time with, its the funds.

Steve, that is 1" measured from where? I assume the runner edge closest to the center of the intake (not the sides). Then cutting the sides at an angle to match the current angle. Is that your understanding?

Funds. Yeah, I'm there with you. I acquire tools whenever I can.

Have you looked at the pics of how I did mine? I measured one inch down from the highest point of the runner (meaning on the inside of the intake) and made a mark. I did this on both sides of the runner and connected the two marks. I then free handed up the side of each runner to make a clean angle to the outside edge.

have a look at this pic... you can see the cut mark on the far pair of runners... basiclly what Gary said, measure 1" down from the tallest point, then taper it back to the outside wall of the manifold.

Sure. My machine guy smoothed everything out that I had cut. Using a Dremel is a bear, because it gets HOT. That's why I recommend air tools. He even told me that if we had more time, he'd cut the runners all the way down as well as cutting out the centerplate.

That kinda looks like 1" will take it almost all the way down flat with the adjacent runner. Think that is too much?

Ehh, only on the sides. I remember when I was doing mine there were links posted up as to what the guys on the Dodge car side were doing for their Avengers. They cut the runners down all the way, which I seriously think is not going to cause a problem for you.
