well heres my pick i got an 01 1500 and the computer has the "death flash" in it now i got another computer without the flash but its from a 1999 will it wokr in my 2001 without messin stuff up thanx in advance jason

 

Only way to know for sure is to try it. I don't think there are any major differences between 99 ans 01.

I don't think it will damage anything by plugging it in.

 

If it's cheap, you could try it. Keep your old one for a spare though because the worst that can happen is that your truck could go into "limp" mode, or even not start at all. I've always been told you can not use computers from other years, but you could from a same year, but it has to be from a truck with the same trans type, factory security alarm type (yes or no). I never tried one from another year, but have tried 2 from same year, and they both worked fine.
