REMOTE START VIPER ALARM
I had one question. I have been thinking of putting a Viper alarm with a remote start, but am still undecided. This feature is obviously great, but after talking with some of my friends, i'm not so sure. Some had told me that some mechanical problems arose from such an installation. In one case, even the transmission got busted because of it. So my question is, does anyone have an experience with such an alarm system in their Ram? If so, is it worth the hassle? Do mechanical failures increase after an installation? Should I install it, or just go with a viper alarm without remote start? Thanks.
I can't even image how on earth the tranny got busted by doing this.
The tranny isn't even engagedin park. The pump doesn't even pump the tranny fluid, that's why you have to check it in neutral. I'll bet the tranny was on it's way out and the problem wasn't related, just coincidental.
Mechanical failures increase after BAD installations. get it done by somebody reputable and you probably won't have a problem.

Hey i Bought my truck about 5 or 6 months ago right before my deployment, the guy that had the truck before me installed this vipar alarm system and had it in for a year, He said he never had any problems out of it... I got deployed about a month into having the truck and i have seen 0 problems out of it... As a matter of fact i love the system especially when i was in chicago in that cold *** weather i could start it from inside my dorm about 90 to 110 yards away and it would be nice and cozy warm by the time i got in it.... I think its one of the nicer luxuary upgrades you can get.... [sm=icon_ladiesman.gif]lol

Your tranny's not electrically controlled, which is why a hypertech or superchips can't adjust the shift firmness or shift points.
You won't hurt it.

I bought a Hypertech Max energy for my truck, i haven had the chance to put it in yet, but the transmission and shift points doesnt really have that much of a effect on hp or torque from what i know... I have herd several good things about both hypertech and superchips, they will help with performance.... Especially when you run high octane fuel, which im going to try out and see if it saves any money in the long run... And the 180 degree t-stat allows your engine to run cooler from what i understand, i just bought it because with most programmers and chips you need one even tho it turned out i didnt really need it for the hypertech, either way its a upgrade and a cheap one at that.
I have a car with one on it also. Nice thing to have. Mine is having an issue occassionally because the alarm is smarter than me. I'm figuring out how it works from a downloaded manual and experimenting. It goes into automatic engine disable and I screw with too many buttons and **** it off. Either that or the fact that the previous owner was a nightmare in wiring stuff.
It will also open the windows and sunroof with one button output and turn on the radio on with another combination.

Does that mean that if I buy one of those superchips sytems, it won't increase the performance of my truck?
