Why would you pay $429 for a 50mm or 52mm TB when you could get one here for $219.99 if you tell Dan you were from Dodgeforum?

www.thefastman.com

Go to Dan, you won't be disappointed. And you don't need bigger injectors.

if you are after maximum horsepower
it is just as likely that you need SMALLER fuel injectors
after a throttle body change
because the stock air to fuel setting of the Magnum engines is very rich (about 11 to 11.5) to surpress detonation on 87 octane gasoline.

Switching to 95 octane and leaning the afr to near 12.7 is more likely to give power gains than going to bigger injectors

When considering an aftermarket throttle body, consider whether the provider tested it with or without the rest of the air intake connected. If tested completely by itself the Magnum throttle body may show a higher flowbench cfm without air horns, but when tested more 'real world' with whatever air intake you are using, the air must make a right angled turn down into the throttle bores and may need the 'help' of the air horns.

This will not be true anymore if you go to an old fashioned round air cleaner design.

It is my personal opinion that buying the larger Holley aftermarket units is the most surefire way to get higher full throttle flow in 'real world' engine operation.

If you are a DIY
then the most surefire way to gain some higher full throttle cfm is to smooth up the upward edges of the throttle body blades and 'hide' the screws and bars that attach the blades to the shaft. Reducing the size of the shaft to the minimum necessary is also a flow improver.

One owner has posted what he did:

http://www.dakota-truck.net/UPGRADES/TB02/index.html

Magnum engine owners should keep in mind that Adam Petty died when his throttle blades hung open the full throttle position, and that changes to throttle bodies should be done with high regard to safety.

It would be good if a moderator would change the spelling of this post's title so that it would show up properly in a future search.
