Default those arent supposed to be there

i am on my way home from school today and i look down and see this...

notice the wires coming from my steering wheel. yeah they are little copper wires/ribbon things. and you can pull on them and they twist all around the steering wheel. between the wheel and where it goes into the column. any suggestions?

i guess this is why my airbag light is on

thanks, Trevor

Be extremely careful when trying to fix them if you do, you don't want the airbag blowing up in your face.

that was my reaction. the only thing i can think of i when replaced my intermediate steering shaft and the wheel was lose. the wheel got spun around alot. and since then the power steering and airbag hasnt worked. i guess i will take it to a shop because i cant pull the wheel with the airbag in it... can i?

If you unhook the battery for several minutes it should discharge the airbag firing system and you could then remove it.

yes there is:

Never pulled the wheel before, but that'll tell you how to do it, and safely.

Whenever you have the steering shaft dis-connected and it can spin freely, you have to re-set the clockspring to the center before hooking it back up. You will need a new clockspring. No question about it.
