can a tire fit and still be wrong?
I picked up a set of SUV tires for my truck 97 ram 2500 5.9l V8 4x4 last winter. I don't know what the load range was or anything, but I bought them because they were like $10 a piece, they are 245/75/16 goodyear wranglers. Today I left my house and out of nowhere my steering started getting hard so I pulled off and the tire had split on the sidewall and was leaking so I took it back home and with in a minute it was completely flat. So my question is it possible that these tires were too light duty for the truck or should they have been ok?
$10 a piece eh?
Maybe they arejust crappy worn out tires. Load range applies to how much weight the tires can carry. if your truck is not loaded you could use p metric passenger tires and still be fine

since your truck is a 3/4 ton you shouldn't really run anything less then a load range d, otherwise you run the risk of a blow out while hauling or towing something. as far as the sidewall.. they are probably just old tires...
I was using these up front since when I carried a load the pressure would be on the back tires which are load range E. The tires were dryrotted or anything like that, I don't drive the truck very much so it does sit for a while. I guess I'll just be looking for another cheap tire. Thanks.
