Shorty headers will give you performance but not as much as long tubes will give you.

The only longtubes made for our trucks are pacesetters I believe. You'll want their ceramic coated ones and replace your stock Y pipe with the pacesetter one as well. Also get a better set of header gaskets from felpro or similiar as the set that comes with the pacesetters has been known to blow out and leak..

not sure about the 2500, but I have Borla performance Headers, (long) on my 1997 1500.. I LOVE them, nothing but good things to say about Borla.. Have the whole exhaust system, including stainless steel muffler... very durable~.. check if they are available for your engine.. www.borla.com

Oh sorry, I didn't even catch that. You might be stuck with shortys then because I couldn't find anybody else when I went shopping around for even a 1500.

Steve had told me awhile ago that the Gibsons are awesome, but they're pricey. I think that Silver_Dodge runs the Edelbrocks with the ceramic coating and likes them. They're a little more reasonable in price, but Shott had some problems with his (I think they were the Ti-tech coated ones) so you might want to get both guy's opinions.

I tried two sets of them. They are sold as summit brand and are pace****ters. Try at your own risk. I thought I would save a few bucks and two change outs later, I put the frickin manifolds back on.
You get what you pay for from summit. I asked the salesman if they were seconds since they were cheaper than the same header under it's name. He would not admit to it.

Default RE: new headers

The first set leaked on the pass. side. Bad weld surface at gasket sealing areaand leaked by. Switched out the gasket twice with progresively better ones. Not enough surface to work.
If I had of just replaced the one that was having the issue it might have worked out for a while.
The second set had a bad weld on the drivers side front port. This is the side that will **** you off with this particular header. The rear center stud needs to get cut or replaced with a bolt. I suggest the latter since I did the first and it was a pain and trial and error to get the length right and try to put a nut on. After replacing them, Iknew the second set couldn't be bad also. So I figuredit was me and two gasket change outs again it still leaked. Pulled them off and could see daylight between the tube and flange.
Took the stock manifoldsto the machine shop, had them surfaced and no problems since and my hands have healed from the damage.
Someone on here got the headers. I was joking when I told them I had a leaking set they could have for free. He was going to weld them up. Haven't heard how it went.......
