Default Help

I just got a 96 ram 4x4 and the 4x4 light comes on and of when it is in 2 wheel drive. It acts like a short or loose wire. Any idea where to check?

Could be a shorted switch on the front axle vacuum motor.
It's also possible the front axle shift fork is stuck half way

I'd first make sure it really is in 2wd and then remove the vacuum lines from the CAD. If it still comes on, it's probably electrical.

Passenger side, front axle, where it is thicker, if you look at it from the backside you'll see I think two wires and two vacuum hoses connected to it there.
