Wierd Goo comming from my water pump?!
When I took my water pump off there was this Go-Jo looking liquid comming from one of the holes on the block. It had the consistancy of Go-Jo, the look, and it smelt like soap and anti-freeze, and the little pocket it was in was clean as anything. Any soap I had was inside the house, so theres no chance I dropped some in there. What the heck could it be? (what you see in the pic is all that there was, nothing more than that)
(also, how do you prevent the crank from moving when you tighten the bolt to 135 lb ft?)

Did you have any smell of amonia? There has been a recall on some cars for a bad antifreeze mis at the faxtory.

I have seen two SRT8 Magnums come in our shop for a recall to have the coolong system flushed out due to a defective antifreeze mixture. Once this stuff heats a few times, it begins to turn into amonia smelling fluid. Very nasty. Last one to come in, it took 5 flush's to clean it out of the system. Your stuff looks very odd. Something is surely going on there.

As far as the liquid, it might be that recall, (I hadn't heard about that one), but it looks like mineralization of the aluminum housingof some sort. Did you get all the flush product out of the engine the last time you flushed? Did you use tap or distilled water the last time you flushed it? Just guessing here...
I'm assuming that the pulley has teeth around the spot where it connects to the crank, butdoes the pulley move with the crank when you tighten it down?A heavy duty strap wrench like aCobalt strap wrench (or one where the strap doubles over on itself)can give you some extra grip on the pulley to hold it steady.

Im sure the recall is for the newer cars. Didnt pay attention to the year of that truck. oops

Wow, I have had that same gooey stuff apear when I recently changed out my waterpump. I thought it was due to anti-seize that I put one some threads, figuring it somehow got into the cooling system.

Yeah I think you hit it on the head with this assumption, it seems like mineralization for sure.
