Default SPARK PLUG QUESTION

I'm going to be changing the plugs in my truck and had a question. I've read on here that your supposed to use the basic copper core plugs and not the the platinium. so my question is what is the difference and why not use the platnium. From what i gatherthe platnium are coded in platnium and last longer because they don't wear like the copper would. I would thing that the spark would be the same. so why do some guys say that their truckdidn't run right on platnium?

thanks for the help.

All platinums aren't bad. Most problems have been with the original Bosch single electrode plugs.
I personally wouldn't install them in my truck if they were given to me for free.
Platinum's don't offer any performance advantage only longevity. In most cases the costs of the platinum/iridium plugs aren't worth it, especially if you do your own tune-ups. If you want 5 years maintenance free go for it but don't be surprised if you truck starts to run rough after a few years. Exotic plugs are still vulnerable to carbon and other deposits just like conventional copper core plugs and may have to be removed and cleaned.

From looking on the internet the platniums are about a dollar more per plug. So thats not a very big differance. What brand is good and what should i stay away from? also how hard of a job is it. they look somewhat easy to get at but i have those dam heat shield to deal with.

get autolite 3923's... it's the best way to go, plan on checking on them at around 30~35k and make sure they're gapped right. they have worked the best for me on5 magnum motors... 3 v8's & 2 v6's...

they are also said to be worth approx 5 hp.

The champion Platinum's are OK as are the NGK iridium's, in my opinion.
I've run the autolites as well as the stock champions with good results.
The Champion Truck Plugs are also a good alternative. Look cool too (in the box anyway )
I can't say I've ever experienced an dramatic difference with ANY spark plug except for the Bosh platinum's and that was definitely negative!
