98 Dodge 2500 Questions---
I'm working on this guys truck. It's a 98 Ram 2500 4x4 with a 360 and 4.5ton axle
He needs:
Brake Pads
Rotors
Hubs
Lugs
and maybe the bearings for the front axle..
Essentially everything but the axle itself needs to be replaced- it's all become one solid piece of rust..
These parts new total something like $800... Does anyone have any of this for sale? I can always hit up the junkyard but I figured I'd go straight to the Dodge guys first..

Thats what I was saying.. FREAKING OUTRAGEOUS!
The part they were showing me was a Rotor, Hub, Lugs all in one with an ABS connecter or sorts, there may be more to it but the part had to be ordered and there was no picture of the back side.. $318 per side, plus pads for all 4 and rotors for the rear.. I'm just terribly perplexed.. I'm sure it will all be very simple... Once I get the axle nuts loose! It's like a 1 11/16" socket.. I can't even tell where the axle and nut seperate from each other... conventional means- the socket on a 5ft bar, heated with blow torch and using liquid wrench- are inadequate.. a nut breaker thats large enough won't fit in the space with enough room to use the thing... Next plan is to drill a series of holes inbetween the notches on the castle nut and then take an air chisle to see if I can break it... 415ftlb torque impact has also been fruitless.. I have never seen rust this bad- all of the lugs broke off when trying to loosen them, the wheels were also rusted to the hub- had to break them free with a crow bar... this rust is BAD! [:@]
Kind of laughable really..

sounds like this job is going to be a bear, especially once you get the axle nut off and then try to remove the hub assemble. took me three weeks of soaking the assemble in liquid wrenchand then almost breaking the hub removal tool that i barrowed from a buddy at work. I pretty much had to stand on the 5 ft bar I was using on thataxle nut to remove it the first time
dang thats intense
true the front hubs on these trucks as an assembly are very expensive
i have 2 brand new ones behind my seat just waiting to be put on
usually not easy
its funny when you work on these trucks all day long at work, you come home and your like... damn i gotta work on MY truck now...
maybe tomorrow haha
