Default HELP!!!!

Today I was pulling a heavy load 60 mph down a highway when my truck instantlyjust shut down. I tried a rolling start several times but could not start it untill I turned the ignition off, then back on. After that, it would shut off if Icame to a stop, and my speed sensor went dead for a while, then would come back on, only to go back off. I need a new cat, but doubt that was the culprit. So I suspect the fuel pump or the ECM...any help?

Around 2000 RPMs.. People say it's probably my fuel pump but I'm broker than my truck..Do they make fuel pumps with filters out side the tank? Or are the filtersdesigned to be efficient for 100,000+ miles?

As far as I know you need to buy the in tank fuel pump, and yes they are very expensive.

Hmmmmm... I thought that, surely, out of all the people belonging to this site, some one could tell me the problem. UPDATE: Speedo still dead, truck behaving worse, and soon I'll be towing the 2.5 ton paperweight up the driveway unless the culprit is found. It will not idle after acceleration untill you crank it back. PLEASE!!!!!!!!

use you air pressure tool to read the fuel pressure at the fuel rail. You might have to cycle the key a couple times to build pressure. Im not sure the amount of pressure you should get but it should be above 30 I think. Did you check your codes? That would help. Cycle the key three times on/off and look at your digital milage display or enigne light lumination (count the flashes).

It's throwing the p0500 code for a speed sensor malfunction, but that wouldn't starve the engine for fuel, would it? Plus, I can't even find the speed sensor on my tranny. The fuel pressure should be between 47 and 52 lb. but I have no gauge. UPDATE: Thats it! This overpriced stereo system is going to the mechanic; I'll let him agonize in frustration

Your speed sensor will be on the driver side tail of the trans.Take it out and wipe all the crud off of it. You will lose a little fluid. The speed sensor is a magnet, same concept as a cam or crank sensor. It is not that expensive if u just want to buy a new one to eliminate it as a possibility. If that dont work then ohm out the wire going from the sensor.
