How do you remove the seal on the timing chain cover?

Default How do you remove the seal on the timing chain cover?

Im trying to figgure out how to remove the crankshaft seal on the timing cover, and i can seem to do it.

I think that you might need one of these to pull that seal out.

remove the timing cover from the front of the engine and set it up on the bench, then just knock it out from the back side using a hammer and punch/screwdriver. since your going to replace it anyway, it doesn't matter if you damage it.

yes. note the cavity that it seats into - it has a stop point. get it started straight, maybe put a block of wood over it, and tap it down to the stop point. oil the rubber lip before sliding it over the crank
