Default Rear brake cylinder question

I believe I blew out a right rear brake cylinder on my 98 2500 Ram.

Is it a straighforward job or are there some tricks to it? Thanks.

well have u ever done one before and sometimes straight forward stuff usually never goes straight forward but its not really a hard job if you can get the brake line off without a problem

put rear end on jack stands, remove wheel, remove brake drum. locate wheel cylinder. look it all over while an assistant presses brakes. locate incoming brake line on back side of cylinder. if its leaking any, it needs replacing. spray brake line connection with lots of wd40 and carefully remove it and hold your breath and try really really hard not to round off the nut or break the line. then unbolt cyl from backing plate and remove and replace. good time to inspect/replace brake shoes and drums. bleed brake lines very thoroughly, enough to exchange out all your original '98 fluid, probably require 1-2 qts. do it gradually on all 4 wheels and DONT let the master cylinder run dry or you have to start over.

Thanks guys.

I finally had a chance to do it today. Did the shoes of course as well.

Bled everything and all is well (I hope [sm=shades.gif]).

Thanks again!
