Default Fuel cooling questions/thoughts

Steve05Ram360 was discussing his fuel cooling system with me about a week ago and he suggested wrapping the fuel rails in insulation tape.He alsosuggested using something like a power steering fluid cooler (or larger) to cool the fuel coming into the fuel railfurther to increase the power and MPG as cooler fuel produces more power. One warning he did advise was to be wary of gas in the front if you were ever in a head on collision.

That got me thinking,is there a way to do more than just passively cool the fuel? Could yousomehow rigup thefuel linearound the A/C in some fashion to further cool the fuel? A/C is a big killer of power on these things, andif you could somehow harness the coolA/C lines the run through the engine, or around the accumulator, wouldn't you recoup some of that lost power? After all, when you don't need the A/C (winter) then the ambient temp outside is aready coolingthe fuel thru osmosis inthe tank, right? Also, it would put the fuel further back into the engine bay than the cooler up front would.

I'm totally brainstorming here, if anybody has any input here like "the A/C system's too fragile to handle this",or "You're anidiot, dude" feel free to chime in.

I can honestly say I think it is too much work for the gain, but I will throw in my idea.

Why not get a longer a/c line and run it around/along/across the fuel rail? I think that would be easier than extending fuel lines and such.

Totally, it's a lot of work, but it might be fun and I don't think it would cost that much. It'll sure get me out of the house for a day!

A/C to the fuel might work better, just have to recharge the system and add extra 134a after you've tapped the lines.I think the heat soak from the intake manifold and engine would be too great to try to cool the fuel rail. There's not a lot in the way of fuel line in the engine bay, but it might be possible to find something like a double cooler that could run the A/C though it on one side and the fuel on the other.

I wonder if this would work, it is supposed to be used to cool transmission fluid and engine oil but I don't see why it couldn't work for this application.

That might if it were back to back, but side to side wouldn't transfer enough. I'd probably have to find something along the lines of what boats use a heat exchange.

Hey, maybe something like this could be adapted:
