good question! I always pull my jetski with my dodge. Of course no problems, but overdrive is really out of power with any extra weight. I did make a 1300 mile trip with my 01 chevy camaro z28 that weights 3400 pounds on a uhaul trailer with 1000 pounds in the back of the bed. It pulled it pretty good but anything over 55 mph you can forget about it. Plus i drove straight through the hills of tenn.....Its a 01 1500 4x4 5.9 auto

Before I owned my Indy, my friend did, when he owned it we towed a 1989 jetta 360 miles to my house, 360 miles, 360 V8, what a coincidence.

What gear ratio do you have?

I used to tow the travel trailer, allour camping equipment, 4 people and the ATV at 70 - 75 miles per hour down the Interstate all day long! The truck would usually get 8-9 mpg when I was working it.

We sold the camper so that's why I have the truck for sale. http://www.findcars.com/a.php3?q=242818

About 2000lbs worth of a VW, it was750 miles having owned the truck for all of four days. After awhile you forget it's back there.

My truck must still be broken, after replacing my clogged cat and putting a magnaflow on it, I took it out for a test run yesterday.
Went from 0-1500ft elevation over 22 miles yesterday, 4000+ pound trailer, 55mph, 3500 rpm on the grades, and my tranny overheated.
Tested the coolant and it was measuringat 20 degrees under what it should be protecting to, so I am going to flush that out today and try again.

Where should my rpm's be when pulling a trailer like this up a long grade? It wasnt as steep as its going to get, but long and consistent.
I feel like the truck should pull this trailer much easier than it does.

My friends 03 Tahoe with a 350 pulls it like its not even there, yet I totally feel like its a struggle.

That seems really high RPM for 55. Are you sure your tranny wasn't slipping? Mine runs like 2300 ish @ 55 I think 48 or so is 2000 RPM

How would I know if it was slipping?
It only has 20k on it since new, I would hope its not slipping, and that was up a grade, not on flat road.

Ive regularly moved a 450 Case dozer on a 3 axle trailer with my 98 5.2. A little sluggish but not bad.
