Default Idling Issues 3.9L V6

At 65,000 miles my otherwise smooth running V6 has decided to momentarily surge up to 1500 RPMs at idle at random. I don't see any apparent cause and affect (e.g. hot/cold; A/C or No A/C).

Purchased the RAM with 24,000 miles on it and discovered at about 60,000 miles that the breather was not well connected to the throttle body. I am sure dirt was allowed directly into the throttle body for a while.

For those of you who have "been there - done that" what should Ilook at first, second, third, etc.

Thanks for any suggestions.

2500 MOPAR,

Thanks for the advice. I like easy answers whenever possible. Cleaner sounds like a sensible first step to me.
