RE: NEED HELP!!! GEARS 4.10 or 4.56
i have a 98 dodge ram that I bought used from a kid who had no idea what to do with a truck like this. It came to me with a 3" body lift and 35"M/Ts on stock rims, rubbing and all. I have since put a jasper racing tranny in the truck , performance programmer, re geared the transfer case, installed 4.56 gears. I had the unfortunate oppurtunity to drive it for a few weeks with the stock 3.55 gears and it felt like a vette comparitavely after the gear swap. The truck still feels a little low geared but that is ok since I am about to add 5" to the suspension lift giving me a total of 11" of lift and slappin some 39.5x15 tires, I feel like I am gonna have plenty of gear for street and offroad. Gears by far the best bang for buck mod on truck.

I have a 2000 Dodge Ram Sport 4x4. These trucks come stock with a basic Dana 44 front, no lockers, no positrac, pretty much built as the rear differential, and the rear differential is a corporate Chrysler 9.25. I believe since mine is a sport I have either a 3.55, 3.73, or a 4.10 ratio, which the 4.10 is what i am leaning to since the truck can beat stock fords and chevys with my 33s. But those should be the axles you have in a 4x4. I may be wrong if yours is a different year model.
