Default Transmission 46RE not down shifting

I have searched and read a lot of Posts on Transmissions, but have not seen anything on this. I have a 2001 Ram 1500 Quad cab 5.9 and 46RE Transmission with 52K.Fluid looks clean haven't changed this as I just bought Truck about 1k ago and 60 day warrenty is over.Have a problem with it not down shifting to first when you come to a stop. It seams to stay in third, if you manually shift to 2nd or first it will then down shift. If you don't make it down shift and try to go it will but as starting in third gear it's slow. This happened about three week ago for one day, then had Transmission check by two different Tranny places, they couldn't find anything. No check engine lights or codes, checked pressures are ok. It just started same thing yesterday, haven't tried again yet. Could this be the Governor sensor and selenoid ??

Thanks

Thanks for HELP, as NO one answered.
I replaced Gov Sensor #56028196AD $51.06 and Gov Solenoid # 461720 $88.44, from http://www.trademotion.com/partlocat...?siteid=214868changed fluid and filter. Transmission shifts great. When you stop it downs shifts to first.

Pl af youmight want to check your idle, start by cleaning the throddle body as it might holding open just enough to not allow it to down shift to low. I had a ford that done the same thing with me I done these procedures and it fixed it imediately'

So how did you determine that the sensor and solenoid needed replacing? Hopefully you used ATF+4 fluid when you changed the fluid and filter.

I just read Posts and took it that the Gov sensor & solenoid where common problems. Yes I used ATF+4.

Sometimes a forum search yields quicker information than posting. Many of us don't hang here 24/7. I tend to forum searches more these days than posting. Glad you were able to repair your problem.

FYI, the shift selenoid and and sensors tend to fail due to a buildup of contaminants from wear surfaces in your tranny. I'd budget for a rebuild down the road.
