Default spark plug difference.

I swapped out my spark plugs, autolite 3924, man, did they ever need it. The tips were either chalked white or somewhat melted. Noticed a difference, but it idled kind of funny at first, then smoothed out. Not sure what kind of other benefits i'll get, didn't notice too much a difference in acceleration yet.

Is there any consistentency in the 5.9L 360 doing this to spark plugs? Or are these autolites not that great for the engine?

the autolite 3923's are the prefered plug IMO... having had 3 mag motors and tried many different plugs, the 3923's are the ones I go back to. do you have a pic of the plug tips?

well barring any difficulty, i'll keep my setup for the next 3-6 months or so, then swap out the wires, plugs, and whatever kind of knowledgable info I acquire.

You don't say what year your truck is or howlong your old plugs were in the engine but the plugs Steve recommended are an excellent choice. I used to run them and may again some time in the future. They are a slightly colder heat range than stock. They have been known to reduce pinging and may offer a slight performance increase. They may be a good choice for you based on how you describe you old ones as slightly melted. No spark plug is going to make a huge difference in you truck though.

I'm not really sure. I don't know how long those other plugs have been in there, so I'll get the 3923's and when I swap them out I'll check on how the plugs look.

$1.47 per plug at my local Wally World.

I thought white chalky stuff on the plug tipwas a coolant leak?

It usually is but it can also be ash from oil and there are some weird additives in some brands of gas that can leave deposits.
