Default engine stalls after it reaches operating temp

my truck will stall as soon as it reaches operating temp. after a few times of stalling it will run fine. i just replaces the tps for an engine surging problem. it will through a 1391 when it stalls out. do i need to replace the ckp or cam sensor or could something else be making them sensors through the code

welcome to DF... I'd start with the crank sensor. it is the one that will kill the motor like your describing. the cam sensor is mainly for the fuel injection timing.

When the engine is 'dead cold'
the PCM computer greatly richens the air to fuel ratio at starting
then gradually leans it out as the coolant temperature goes up.

If the engine will start when cold
then stall as it warms
that might be a 'clue' that the problem is one of fuel delivery.

Perhaps start by checking the psi at the fuel rail to make sure it is near 43 psi?

One or more of the O2 sensors could also be suspect.
They are easily poisoned by sulfur in gasoline, or other contaminants.
The O2 sensors are not used when dead cold, then are used when temperature of the coolant goes past 147 degrees F.

I am assuming you don't have a California spec Ram truck,
and instead have a Ram with 'normal' OBD-II computer system and no added emissions controls like EGR, which can easily cause stalling.

Good luck.

why does it only stall when it reaaches operating temp then run fine after a little while. while it is stalling i get it rolling down the road the slow down to come to a stop. istarts stalling around 1000 rpms iff i keep it around there it will spit and sputter around

well, more info is always better... sputtering is not a sign of a bad crank sensor... swap the cam sensor since it is responsible for injector timing...

ok lets back up... does it stall at idle or when your driving? stalling at idle is usually a bad IAC or dirty IAC (located on the back of the TB). I would start by yanking it out and cleaning it and the TB real good. make sure you get all the gunk out. while the TB is off, look down into the intake for oil pooling on the bottom (it's the best time). if you see anything more than a light film, your plenum gasket is leaking.

Year? Model? Engine? Fed or Cali emissioned? All I can gather is that it's a '96 or newer truck with an auto. P1391 is constant (global OBD II), but the possible causes of both the code and stall conditionchange with different vehicles.

i have already replaceed the iac and cleaned the throttle body. didnt notice any puddling. it is a 2001 dodge ram 1500 5.2L.aint sure what emmisioned it stalls out when idling. it has never stalled out going down the road just coming up to a stop. if i keep the rpms up it wont stall out. i have to drive it like a standard tansmission foot on the brake to keep the rpms up.

sure sounds like a dead IAC to me... check the connections on it, verify the wiring is not messed up. do you have the original? if so slap it back in and see how it acts.
