The problem I'm having is my motor shop I've been checking say I'm limited on the performance I can due on myengine. They told me my engine computeur is limited on the upgrades I can put for increase performance. Look I just want to kick a** on a chev or ford, wich we all know that these motor can easly do, but I don't wan 't a engin that doesn't purrrr also if u catch my drift or rooster tails..........

just a quick note: upgrade your PCM im thinking B&G flash (others will chime in on this) then your not limited on what you can do . another is a fastman TB , highflow cat , and a cat back system , good set of spark plug wires msd, taylor 8mm ,8.5mm ..

I like this quick response, have already put into motion exaust and firing for this engine. What I'm looking more is for components that will work great with the PCM, u suggested me, witch I'm looking into. Thanks a bunch!!!!!!!!!!

No offense but forget the spacer. The throttle body upgrade is an excellent start. A performance
pcm or flash is recommended once you have completed some mods. Once you start you are not going to be able to stop. How bout modding your kegger to complement the t/b. New cam And heads are great too. Changing your gear ratio will also do wonders. Maybe I have gone overboard but ....your pocket book is your only limit.

I think you might have a bit of a problem between those two motors. There was a bit of a transition between OBD I compliance and OBD II compliance that happened around this time. Things started getting changed around and dropped off the engine. EGR was dropped around this time in favor of other emissions improvements and several changes were made to the onboard computer to keep the engine running cleaner. I'm not 100% sure a B&G flash can be done to a pre 98 PCM and I don't know if you'll be able to run the 97 motor on a 98 PCM. Somebody here that's done extensive engine swapping or that owns a earlier model may be able to help more.

THe motors from 94-01 can be swapped without a problem it is just the intake manifolds and exhaust manifolds that are slightly different. I beleive 96 was the last year of the egr valve 95 was the last year of obd1 and in 98 the intake manifold only had 1 coolant temp sensor instead of 2 like in the previous years. You can use a b&g flash on a 97 though my truck is proof of that.

You just hit your 700th post, anyway I was wondering if the one for the M1 intake manifold can be used without the M1 manifold for a while until I install the M1 because I am really liking the 130mph increase and shift points.
