Default easy fix?

Ok guys quick question... I have been smelling anitfreeze and have'nt been able to locate the source until today that is. Well the good news is its not the water pump, radiatior or heater core (that I just replaced)
I finally found a slight leak around the T-stat housing. Question is.... is that a gasket and what all do I need to take off in order to get to it. I really just need a little advice in order to keep from disassembling more than necessary.

Thanks in advance for the help,
Dave

you gotta remove the alternator and you can get to it pretty easy. get a new t-stat gasket and if ur not already runnin a 180* tstat might as well drop the 8 bucks for one.

Ok man thanks. Thats what I was needing to know. I figured the alternator might have to come off, just making sure that was it so I did it right the first time. I will go with the 180 as well, thanks again for the help.

you really dont HAVE to take off the alternator...
its up to you...
you have the time to do so, your not on a time clock or trying to MAKE money working on a truck... so it can be easier to remove alternator to replace thermostat gasket

be sure to grind off the little FRONT tab on the housing(or bend it straight up) - stupidest idea chrysler ever made lol

i guess after years of doing this kind of work i found out you dont have to do alot of things to get the job done
on time and make money haha

Well xxl you were right I did not have to take off the alternator. I never really knew what yall were talking about when you mentioned the flange on the thermo housing, but I got aquainted with it when I went to reinstall the new gasket and 180 T-stat. Needless to say I went straight to the grinder, man whose idea was it to put that flange on? Makes it darn near impossible to replace the T-stat. Anyway.... leak fixed 180 in. Thanks for the advice.
