Throttle Stuck In WOT
I was comin up a hill yesterday and mashed on the gas and it got stuck in WOT. Tell me where to start please.... its stuck in my yard and i dont wanna have it towed.
yea if you look at the throttle cable (on the gas pedal) its like pulled out all the way and stuck. the pedal just moves. Im new to messin with the throttle and its alien to me so im gonna need a helpin hand.
take loose throttle cables from both pedal and cruise control on the throttle body
pull them in and out and lube them up
feel for alot of resistance...
could also be your kick down cable getting stuck...holding the throttle at holy **** my pants hold on speed - lmao
never seen this happen before.. but is possible

Here's everything I can think of:
1. First double check that nothing on the TB throttle lever is jamming or catching, it should roll forward and up about 90 degrees, then return via spring pressure to idle position.
2. Then make sure that the 2 cables in front aren't catching on anything and holding it open, or kinked and the thin wire in the center got pinched in place. The lines work like bicycle breaks or gear shifters and if they get bound up, they won't move.
3. Check the TV cable that runs in the back as far down as you can trace it and see if it kinks. (I don't think this cable is strong enough to resist the TB lever spring on it's own, but it wouldn't hurt to check.)
4. Also check to make sure the TV cable adjuster didn't come loose out of the TB lever and just moves with the cable back and forth,(this should affect shifting, not throttle but it can't hurt to check if it got somehow lodged in something. ) Its a square box that's supposed to be anchored in the TB lever.
5. Check and make sure nothing under the air hat is holding open the throttle fins (like a loose S-bolt popped out and landed in the fins wedging them open.)
6. Also check that the return spring in the TB lever didn't break (if it did, the TB lever wouldn't return under it's own force, it would kind of flop back and forth).
7.Make sure the Throttle control cable is routed under the little cam on the TB lever. (pg 1537 in the 2001 service manual) Also trace this line forward and see if it's kinked anywhere.
8. Check the cable from your accelerator pedal and make sure it didn't get kinked anywhere.
Getting stuck when you mashed on it sure sounds like something mechanical along the TB and those cables or the lever itself. I wouldn't think a shorted out TPS would do this, but have you messed with that recently?

mine does this on the highway at a certain rpm it will stick and i have to kick it several times all the way down and let it rev open to bring it down, it seems like more than the cables to me

thanks for the input guys. if you look at the gas pedal, you can see the cable is stuck at wot. the gas pedal moves back and forth freely. so i gotta get that free somehow
