Default Hi all new here. with trans problem.

Hi all , I am new to the boards here I own a 95 1/2 ton 2 wd 3.9l 5 spd pickup 75,000 miles. I love the truck but on our last outting going camping it died. I was towing a smaller pop up camper. the trans just got louder and louder until I got it stopped. At that point it was unable to move on it own. nothing in any gear. I think clutch. No big deal. I left the truck at a transmission shop while I rented a truck to continue on our vacation. They checked it out and said it was a clutch and wanted about $1000.00 to do it... No way I'll do it. installed new clutch. started it up to try and test it and I still have nothing in 1,2,3,5, or Reverse. However in 4th gear it will start to pull like it would normally if you were to try to take off in 4th. Any ideas. I though Ft output shaft but then I should have no gears at all?? Any help wouldbe greatley appreciated. It geting cold in Michigan and would like to try and get this figured out soon. Thanks all. Ty

If I were to guess,(and that is what I am doing) I would think that the countershaft gear inside the transmission was damaged somehow. The reason I say this is because 4th gear goes straight through and all the rest use the countergear to transfer power out to the output shaft of the transmission... Just a guess though..

Yeah I am at a loss of words for this rig. To only have 4th seems wierd. I just need to decide either to fix current trans or locate another trans ready to drop in. GRRRRR.
