The only real limiting factor (besidesbackspacing) is the width. it's only 7 inches wide. I've never seen anyone put a tire fatter than 12.5 inches on it, and I'd say that's pushing it. 285s are probably the widest you should go with it.

No man, 285 is the width of the tire in millimeters which is almost exaclty 11". The second number 75 in this case is a percentage (in this case 75% of 285) and that determines how tall the tire is. 3rd numbers is the wheel size but I know you know that

Most tire shops will recommend against putting a 12.50 on a 7" rim and will suggest an 11.50 instead.

It doesn't matter how many wheels you have, it matters how wide the wheel is. Not sure on the duallies how wide their stock wheels are, but when your talking dually, your probably going to want to make sure the tire you pick stays within the recommended load rating for the truck, rather than how big of a tire. That way the truck can be used safely for what it was made for which is towing/hauling.

I run 285/75/16 on my ram just like yours with no problem at all. I have wondered if I could go to a 315 though but that is pushing I would say.

Kevin.
