missing?
Hey guys.... another rookie question.... I power washed my motor at the carwash, bcause it was covered with about an inch of mud and dirt, and then drove abou a mile home, and parked it for about 45 minutes.... got back in, started it, ran a little ragged, droppedit into reverse, ouched the gas, and it died. started it again, missing pretty bad, drove it around the block, got better, no miss when I got home. Anybody ever had this happen before? I'm thinking maybe water around the spark plugs in the heat shield that dripped off the inside of the hood while it was parked, and then it burned off, as i went around the block? I don't know... what do y'all think?
Yep, happened to me once. I would usually wash the motor with the motor on but that didn't really make sense so I started using chemicals, like Simple Green, let it soak and just use a regular garden hose sprayer. I think it's also better to wash a cold engine as well. Sure others will chime in on this. With all the electronic crap, powerwashers are just too aggressive for an engine compartment, IMO.
Like what was stated earlier, the high pressure from a power washer is hard on the electronics and you should only use a garden hose at the most. After driving the truck around for awhile it actually dries out the moisture buildup and aloows the vehicle to run right, most of the time. You should cover up all electronics with lastic bags and shield them from water anytime you are cleaning out under the hood with chemicals and water.

Same thing happend to me once. Don't know what caused it but after it fixed itself I never had the problem again. Im curious to know what caused it also. Hopefully someone will know.

Thanks guys, yeah, I didn't get the sprayer nozzle too close, I just got the majority of the crap off, since i have duct tape holding my intake hat together... anyway.. thanks

Easy. Your electrical connections dried out and the problem disappeared.
