**Trackbar problem(UPDATED W/ Pix)
Yes, the track bar keeps the front axel centered, or tracking, with the frame while the suspension is in movement. Keeping the axel center helps maintain your steering geometry as the suspension moves. When the bushings on the track bar are worn, the steering box pushes the axel instead of the steering components and that's why you wander around...your axel is swinging side to side in relation to the frame. Make sense? Trust me, if you put the track bar in yourself, you'll learn alot about steering as you look around under there. I would check your ball joints as well...that's my issue right now with my tires getting eaten up.
Can I suggest something? You seem to be more of a onroad off road guy, as oddly as that may sound. But I think you should invest some time and money into some On Road Tires, keep your 35 inch size, but get something a little more civilized for your driving. I dont know how u can stand driving as much as u do with those mud tires, and it will help to save the life of that truck of urs. Just something to consider, you will love the truck that much more if she drives smoothly and straight. We should line em up man! My stacked diesel vs ur torqued up 5.9 with 4.10 gearing would be awesome!
HAHA. Man you like read my mind. I will be canning these mud tires very soon (before the winter hits), because in general I don't do too much off-roading in the scheme of things. I really like this size though. I think I am going to be getting the Mickey Thompson Baja ATZ Radials. A nice smooth ride, yet still great for off roading when I want to do it. But I know man, these mud tires drive me nuts because I am mostly on the road, so all that humbling and bad handling in the rain doesn't really do it for me lol. But yeah, that'd be awesome to line them up, two phat trucks going at it, sounds MINT to me!
Ok, just completed buying the "0-3" Trackbar" from Thuren Fabrication. Only thing that sucks is its going to take 2 weeks to get here. I'm excited to finally get some forward movement on this though. Getting this axle centered and getting the eventual allignment is something I'm looking forward to. Thanks guys for all of your help in helping me decide what lift I had and what products were going to work best. Now, perhaps on somewhat of a detour, I had another question for you guys. At some point I want to buy some new front shocks and replace them with some nice new looking ones like I did in the rear with the Ranchos. When I bought the rears, I got the Ranchos with a 2-3" lift. Should the front size be the same? Also, I'd like to replace the coil springs too, maybe with a red to kind of spice it up in there in the front. All that rusty coil spring and shocks isn't really doing it for me. What are some products you guys suggest for the coil springs?
Honestly, it makes my day. I just love stepping up into the truck all high. The way ppl look at the huge tires, aw its just undescribable. It really is just so fun driving this thing around, and when its offroad...man, it's even more in its element. Life wouldn't be nearly as enjoyable without the big lifted ram!
